Barn-style house in precast concrete — a Mihata project

A barn-style house is a form in which the gable wall is also the most distinctive element of the facade. In this project by our authorised partner Mihata, the gables were made as single precast elements — complete with the roof pitch and window openings.

Making the gable as one element removes the most common problem of this architectural form: the roof edge comes out of the mould exactly as designed, and the roof trusses sit in place without any adjustment on site.

The installation took place in late autumn, at temperatures at which masonry work would already have been suspended.
