Two multi-family buildings in Pudliszki — erected in winter
Two three-storey buildings in Pudliszki, in the municipality of Krobia, eleven flats in each, with erection starting in February. A structure put up in a month when traditional construction normally stands still.
Frost halts wet construction on every front at once. Masonry mortar will not set, concrete placed in situ needs heating and covering, and rendering is out of the question. Winter does not slow such a site down — it interrupts it, and the interruption costs whatever it costs to keep site facilities and plant standing while nobody works.

Scope of work
A precast unit arrives with the strength gained in the factory, so the structure itself can rise regardless of temperature. It has to be said plainly what frost still affects: joint grouting is concrete placed on site, and the same rules apply to it as always — control of curing temperature, admixtures, covers. The difference is one of volume. In traditional construction frost affects all the concrete in the structure; in precast, a few per cent.
One more thing worth knowing: the crane has its own limits in winter. Ice on a unit, wind and visibility are grounds for stopping work, independent of the technology. Erection in February is therefore not free — it is possible and predictable, and with two buildings and a fixed contractual date that means more than a saving on any single item.
Scope of work: lightweight concrete external and internal loadbearing walls, floor slabs, stair flights, landings, balcony slabs, transport and erection.
