Single-family house in Stare Krasnodęby — precast walls
A single-storey precast house with a roof space, on an elongated plan, built in summer on a plot adjoining woodland in Stare Krasnodęby. Erection ran in one cycle — with the walls set, the structure waited for the roof carpentry, held on erection props.
An elongated form is harder for masonry than it looks. A wall a dozen or more metres long has to keep its plumb and its line over the whole run, and masonry is built in courses — so a small deviation in the first course comes back in every one after it and becomes visible after a few metres. It is straightened out with mortar and plaster, at the cost of layer thicknesses and of time.

Scope of work
We produce precast units in sizes up to 3.85 × 9.00 m, and their geometry is the geometry of the mould, not the sum of courses. A long elevation is therefore made up of a few units of controlled dimension, set to a common axis established by survey, rather than of thousands of blocks laid one after another.
The erection props visible in the photographs are, incidentally, a normal stage and not a sign of anything makeshift. A wall that has been set and joined to its neighbours is stable, but until the roof structure is built it lacks bracing in the plane of the roof — the props take that role and allow the structure to be left safely, over a weekend as well.
Erecting in summer also meant that the cycle did not depend on temperature: the concrete cured in the plant, and all that happens on site is the setting and joining of units.
The roof structure, the covering and the finishes stayed with the client.
Scope of work: lightweight concrete external and internal loadbearing walls with openings formed in the mould, gable walls with the roof pitch formed in, transport and erection.
