Two buildings in Kaczory — the complete staircase in precast
Two three-storey buildings on ulica Górna in Kaczory — 23 flats in each, 46 in total. For both we supplied the complete set of staircase units: flights together with landings.
The staircase is the slowest part of a traditional build, and not because of the volume of concrete. A flight cast in place calls for formwork of complicated geometry: treads, strings, landing, all keeping an identical riser height over the full height of the building. That is carpentry of the highest order, and therefore the most expensive labour on site.

Scope of work
What happens in the meantime matters more. Until the stairs exist, vertical movement is by ladder and scaffold. Material for the upper floors goes up by crane or is carried, and every trip made by the finishing trades is slower and less safe.
Flight and landing arrive as finished units and go into place in the same crane cycle as the walls and floors. Once a storey is erected the staircase is usable immediately — the trades that follow walk up the stairs, carry material up them and work in normal conditions.
The landing, incidentally, is the component discussed less often than the flight, and without it the flight has nothing to bear on. Supplying both together means no intermediate state arises on site in which a staircase exists but does not yet lead anywhere.
Scope of work: lightweight concrete external and internal loadbearing walls, floor slabs, stair flights, landings, balcony slabs, transport and erection.
